As the party enters the cave, Fin hears cows mooing, and the party fights some goblins.
The party finds a large room where two bloated but living cows are lying on their side, mooing despondently. Two humans are tied to a post, a man and a woman. A goblin and a Hobgoblin are also in the room, with two other regular goblins. The goblin appears large for a goblin, and has a glassteel sword, and is arguing with the Hobgoblin. There is also a large clay pot full of bubbling liquid, without any heat source.
The Hobgoblin is happy to see the party, and invites them in, and tells them that it's a misunderstanding, and that they want to send the people and their livestock home; he claims they wanted to welcome them to the neighborhood, and invited them to dinner. Gibdar is the goblin, who claims to have burned their house. Lorn is the Hobgoblin. Lorn even offers 5SP to help the humans rebuild.
Paxton can tell Lorn has an ulterior motive, but he seems genuine about getting the party to escort the humans back and cows back, with the silver. The cows look very sick - bloated, labored breathing, and very flatulent.
Tara asks a male human captive what's going on, and explains that the hobgoblin knocked on their door and invited them to dinner, and refused to take no for an answer, and dragged them to the cave. Odella, his wife, backs up his story and mentioned that they fed the cows the liquid from the bubbling barrel. Lorn shows the party regular human food in barrels, and tells the party he fed cows soup, because "cows like soup, everyone knows that". Lorn refuses. to eat the soup himself, claiming it's only for cows.
Tara and Fin try to intimidate Lorn into eating the soup, but he refuses. Lorn looks to Gibdar for advice, who says he knew it wouldn't work, and they attack.
Mid combat, Lorn drinks a potion of invisibility, and vanishes.
Gibdar is taken down by Tara, but his hand is still gripping the sword tightly. Paxton finishes him off, and Gibdar releases the sword, an expression of relief spreading over his face. Paxton picks up the sword, and as he does, he grips. it tightly and throws down his shield - and looks at the other goblins in the cave, a menacing look spreading over his face.
