The oldest city is Arrival, and it has been continuously occupied since the first peoples awoke. It is a hub of trade for the entire world, and is run by an oligarchy of noble households. These households are descended from the greatest (or most ruthless) of the first people to awake. In general, the nobles try to keep Arrival open and free in order to profit from trade. Getting to Arrival is easy, as all winds blow there. Getting to the mainland requires a source of power, usually either rowers or magic.
